Premiere college athletic scholarship and recruitment information portal, AthleticScholarships.com, has just released Division I men’s cross country recruiting guidelines. The guidelines emphasize the statistics that college cross country coaches and recruiters say are typical of high level recruits.

It’s essential that athletes and their parents understand that evaluating potential recruits isn’t an exact science and Division I men’s cross country is highly competitive. The guidelines were created to help students become better prepared for the recruitment process and hopefully improve their chances of getting recruited by a Division I men’s cross country team.

Charlie Adams, an NCSA Senior Educational Speaker and recruiting expert, said, “I think what families struggle with the most is they don’t understand you need to start early. It’s like retirement. It is a process. Start early, start building relationships with college coaches.” Adams has helped his own son through the collegiate cross country recruiting process. Adams stresses that it is about more than just playing the sport. Getting cross country scholarships to pay for an education is one of the most, if not the most, crucial factor, and the school’s educational system should be highly considered when talking to colleges.
