PRLog (Press Release)Feb 15, 2012
The project is narrated by Skip’s granddaughter, eight-year-old Patricia Orem, and is meant to be used for educational purposes. It tells the story of President Lincoln’s famous speech dedicating the Civil War Battlefield at Gettysburg Pennsylvania on November 19, 1863. Skip plays a number of supporting character roles and used his experience as an audio engineer to produce the video.
Orem is a professional actress and her work on the project was her first foray into the world of voice over. About his experience working with her Skip said, “It was rewarding for me because I got to work with my granddaughter and use my decades of off-camera experience to introduce her to voice work.”

More and more educators are using online resources to do research and engage their students. Skip thought that making the video available for free on his new website and YouTube channel would help peak interest in the significance of the Gettysburg address.

Skip said of the project, “I thought it would be a neat way to let young kids know the human and emotional part of the Gettysburg event. That way, as they continue to learn about it in school, it will become more than just a date and a place. Who knows, it may excite a special interest in the subject of history in someone.”
