Nearly 700 of United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) members and guests will travel to New York City to attend UNA-USA Members’ Day at the UN on Fri., Feb. 10. Attendees will enjoy a full day of dynamic and informative discussion in one of the grandest of settings, General Assembly Hall. Members’ Day participants are UNA-USA members, community leaders, academics and students, as well as representatives from think tanks and like-minded organizations, representing the largest gathering of United Nations advocates in America.
Members’ Day gives UNA-USA members exclusive access to the UN and its experts. A keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development and Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University on “The UN in an Era of Global Instability.” Participants will also hear from Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) who will talk about “The Importance of Strong U.S. Engagement at the UN.”
UNA-USA members will discuss issues with UN officials including:
- Sustainable Development
- UN Peacekeeping
- The Millennium Development Goals
- The UN Security Council
