Two Russian diplomats have left Canada amid spying allegations.

The Russian embassy in Ottawa denied the diplomats’ departure had anything to do with the spying scandal.

On January 16, Canadian prosecutors charged a naval intelligence officer, Jeffrey Paul Delisle, of passing on military secrets to an unnamed foreign entity.

The Canadian government has not confirmed speculation that Russia was the recipient of highly sensitive Canadian and NATO information.

The Canadian broadcaster, CBC, reported the two had their credentials revoked after news broke of the naval officer’s arrest.
