Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has expressed a wish to see the country’s children play with toy guns and tanks made in Russia rather than the West.

In a message issued on Twitter, the former NATO ambassador said he had “given a command” for manufacturers to create toy versions of Russian weapons and military equipment.

Rogozin, who currently oversees Russia’s defense industry, said the country’s children “have played with Leopards enough,” referring to Cold War-era German-made tanks.

Rogozin’s tweet came as the deputy premier was attending a conference in the White Sea port city of Severodvinsk on the future of the Russian navy.
