Reports from Iraq say an apparent car bomb has killed at least 28 people and wounded more than 50 others in the capital Baghdad.
Some officials are quoted as saying the bombing on January 27 in the predominantly Shi’ite neighborhood of Zafaraniyah was a suicide attack.
The AFP news agency reports that the blast appears to have hit the funeral procession of a real estate agent, Muhammad al-Maliki, who along with his wife and son was killed in a blast on January 26 in Baghdad.
Insurgents have stepped up attacks in Iraq since the U.S. military withdrawal from the country last month.
