An Afghan calligrapher has reportedly created the world’s largest Koran.

According to the Kabul cultural center that houses it, the book has been certified as the world’s largest by the Afghan Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs.

The book, which took five years to create at the cost of about $500,000, has pages 2.28 meters by 1.55 meters in size and weighs 500 kilograms.

Mohammad Sabir Khedri, the calligrapher behind the project, worked with nine students on the book.

The previous claim to the title of world’s largest Koran was for a 2 meter by 1.5 meter copy unveiled last year in Russia’s Tatarstan region.
